I have had this pogoplug E02 unit laying around for quite some time. I picked it up second hand at a thrift store, took it home hooked it up, registered and quickly found out that out of the box, it wasn't for me. At the time I did a little research and found that it could be tweaked to load custom firmware but didn't have the time to fiddle with it, so there it sat collecting dust.
fast forward to today, my father-in-law needs a very no fuss media server and as the family goto tech guy this came to mind. Sadly I quickly found that pogoplug.com is no more, the pogoplug software doesn't work since its trying to log me in on their 404'ed servers and I never got around to enabling SSH.
Alright, no big deal, I broke out my trusty console cable that I use on my cisco devices (RJ-45 to USB) but the ethernet port is not a console port so of course that was a fail.
You fine folks seem to be the gurus on the subject, so what say ye? am I boned? Do I have options to pump some fresh blood into to it?
