After investigating why Linux Kernel 5.15.158 wouldn't boot properly on the AKiTio MyCloud Mini, found the cause was a setting in the DTS file enabling PCIe.
Removing the PCIe configuration allowed it to boot successfully.
This might also explain why some boards occasionally reported boot failures starting with version 4.4.189 or later in the thread.
