After a couple weeks of use I am happy with my current setup having rootfs on the first internal hard drive. I never got the script in the wiki to work OK for shutting down using the power button alone, but was able to get "shutdown now" working using a combination of both the power and the copy/sync button which is better for me.
Our NSA320 is a media server that is not used much these days.
If I move /var/log to an ext3 formatted usb drive will it reduce the sata drive access and allow it to sleep after long periods of inactivity?
I know this might not be as good as wake on demand or moving the rootfs to a usb drive.
thanks to all
