According to many sources distros like Ubuntu/Debian work well on RK3066 devices such as MK808, UG802, etc.
RK3066 is dual-core SoC with quad-core Mali-400MP4. Android benchmarks show it is faster than quad-core Actions ATM7029, and near the cpu performance of Allwinner A31, although A31 GPU is faster (but won't work under Linux).
Since RK3066 uses Mali we would have better luck with GPU acceleration there than with Allwinner A31.
Can anybody share their experiences with this SoC running Ubuntu or other Linux distro?
Edit:
According to Tabletrepublic:
RK3188 is quad-core A9 with Mali-400MP4. Not sure about SATA support on either of the the Rockchips. None on ATM7029.

Compared with Allwinner A31 and Actions ATM7029, the RK3188 uses Cortex-A9 architecture which makes it performs much better than both of them. . . It’s definitely the most powerful quad core tablet PC at present.
